Hose Cutting & Particulate Ingress
When cutting hydraulic hoses, special care must be taken to pellet or clean the hose before fitting it. The video below shows the particulate contamination generated inside a hose after the cutting process and subsequently recovered through pelleting and microscopic examination.
Hoses, especially wire-braided or steel-reinforced types can release significant amounts of rubber debris and metallic fragments when cut. If not removed, these particles can enter the hydraulic system, leading to filter blockage, accelerated component wear, valve sticking, and in many cases, system failure.
